Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Veridian Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences follows the Open Access model. The publication cost should be covered by the author’s institution or research funds. These Open Access charges replace subscription charges and allow the journal to make valuable published materials freely accessible to all interested readers, especially researchers and young scholars from developing countries.
Veridian Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences on Communication Technology is a double-blind peer-reviewed online journal. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the academic community.
Veridian Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously. We recognize our ethical and professional responsibilities. The journal ensures that advertising, reprint, or commercial revenue has no influence on editorial decisions. In addition, the Editorial Board assists in communication with other journals and/or publishers when necessary.
Duties of Reviewer
Peer Review: Reviewers are responsible for deciding on the acceptance of the article for publication. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers follow the review guidelines and evaluate articles based on originality, novelty, and plagiarism check results. Author identity is kept confidential and not revealed to reviewers. Reviewer comments are also confidential and anonymized before being shared with authors.
Prompt Review: Reviewers who accept the invitation to review must submit their comments promptly to avoid delays in publication. If a reviewer feels unable to provide a timely review or finds the subject outside their area of expertise, they should inform the Editorial Committee immediately and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality: Information, ideas, or content obtained through the peer-review process must be kept confidential and should not be used for personal advantage or shared with others.
Standards of Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, with comments supported by clear arguments. Personal criticism of the author is not acceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the author(s). Any statement previously reported elsewhere should be supported by a citation. Reviewers should also notify the Editorial Committee of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript and other published work known to them.
Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with the authors, institutions, or organizations associated with the manuscript.
Duties of Author
Article Standard: Authors should provide an accurate, original, and complete account of their research, along with an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data must be represented accurately, and the manuscript should include sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fabrication, falsification, or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical publishing behavior and are unacceptable.
Plagiarism: Authors must declare that the submitted work is original, not plagiarized, and does not violate copyrights. Using ideas, text, or data from others without proper citation is unethical. Copying from another work or reusing one's own previously published material without proper citation (self-plagiarism) is also considered plagiarism.
Redundant Publication: Authors should not publish the same research in more than one journal or publication venue. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously, or publishing substantially similar work in multiple places, is considered unethical and will lead to rejection.
Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment must be given to the work of others. Authors should cite publications that have influenced or contributed to the reported study.
The Corresponding Author: The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included. They must confirm that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and consented to its submission.
Image Manipulation: Any manipulation of figures, images, or experimental visuals is strictly prohibited. Authors may be asked to provide original, unprocessed image data. Manipulated images that misrepresent results will lead to rejection or retraction.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose financial or institutional support for the research, as well as any potential conflicts of interest in the manuscript.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works: If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the Editorial Committee and cooperate in correcting or retracting the paper.
Duties of Editor
Role: The Editorial Committee is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal will be published. Editorial decisions are guided by the policies and ethical standards set by the Editorial Board, including those related to libel, copyright, and plagiarism. The Committee may consult with other editors or reviewers before making final decisions. Special issues may also be commissioned in collaboration with subject experts.
Fair Play: Editorial decisions must be objective, impartial, and based solely on the academic merit, originality, and clarity of the submission. Manuscripts must not be evaluated based on the authors' nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, political beliefs, or institutional affiliation.
Confidentiality: Editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information from submitted manuscripts must not be shared with individuals outside the editorial process, except with the corresponding author, reviewers, or other editorial personnel. Unpublished materials disclosed in submissions must not be used by editors or staff for personal research or advantage.
Duties of the Publisher
Handling of Unethical Publishing Behavior: In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher, in close collaboration with the editors, will take all necessary actions to investigate and address the issue. This may include issuing an erratum, clarification, or, in severe cases, retracting the article. The publisher and editors will take reasonable measures to identify and prevent the publication of manuscripts involving research misconduct. Under no circumstances will the publisher encourage or knowingly allow unethical publishing practices.
Access to Journal Content: The publisher is committed to ensuring the long-term availability and preservation of scholarly research. The journal content remains permanently accessible through archival partnerships and secure digital preservation systems, guaranteeing that published research remains accessible to the academic community and the public.
Review Process
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review by at least two experts. The typical timeline depends on reviewer availability and manuscript quality.
